BIRDS OF PREY in a PRIVATE HIDE || Buzzards, red kite
Photographing buzzards in snow:
https://youtu.be/S4sM0NH3u3o
Autumn are at its peak, beautiful colors and the smell of wet leaves and forest reminds me of what to come, birds of pret season are here!
Today I headed out to this private hide which I’m very fortunate to be allowed to use almost whenever I want to, located deep in a beautiful beech forest in southern sweden makes it almost like a sanctuary.
I came to the hide quite late in hopes of photographing birds of prey at sunset with hopes of having the setting sun burst through the canopy of the yellow beech, I had a great day in the hide but I still coulnd’t find any photos I were hppy about so I decided to just sit back and watch nature happen in front of me.
At the very end of the shoot a red kite showed up and offered a few photo oppertunites which I ended up liking!
QA
Private hide?
-Yes, this hide is own by a local bird photographer whom are very supportive about my growth as a photographer and helps me out alot when I have any questions (same photographer whom helped me locate some badger setts)
I’m very glad and Very fortunate to have such good people around me whom supports me.
Entering the hide mid day?
-This is quite controverial among bird photographers and watchers, depending on the hide and what’s typical present at the hide you have to be aware of how and when to enter the hide.
This hide is mainly a buzzard hide and they don’t really care if they are disturbed, they will eventually come back if you just give it some time.
Eagle hides on the other hand, there you need extreme caution when and how you enter and behave in and around the hide, too much disturbance and you will ruin the hide for a good while (commercial hides are an exception but you will still ruin that day)
