9 New Opels/Vauxhalls of 2021: Best Value German Cars with PSA Technology

After PSA’s acquisition in 2017, both Opel and its UK subsidiary Vauxhall have been making a steady transition onto Peugeot’s platforms, which also implies predictable lineup mimicking of the French parent brand. However, Germans were not left without their own creative freedoms and their new models are characterized by more reserved designs with stricter lines and less daring front fascias. Let’s explore the new 2021 Opel Vauxhall selection to find out whether French overlords are moving the company in the right direction.

#1 2021 Opel Mokka

Premiered in September 2020, the new generation Mokka moves to PSA underpinnings, which make it a sister model to the highly-acclaimed Peugeot 2008 subcompact crossover. The German keeps the same wide stance, but measures almost 6 inches shorter in overall length.

#2 2021 Opel Insignia

Available in sedan and estate body styles, the 2021 Insignia gets a routine visual update, that can be noticed in the reprofiled front bumper, lower air intakes, different grille and slightly reshaped headlights.

#3 2021 Opel Crossland

This year, this subcompact Opel Crossland drops X from its name and adopts the new Opel Vizor front, which we have already witnessed on the new-generation Mokka. Other additions to the exterior include new fog lamps, rear skid plates and Mokka-inspired wheels.

#4 2021 Opel Corsa

Last year’s redesign for the Corsa solidified its reputation of Germany’s favorite small car. Now, the model takes a step further and challenges the upper market segment with its affordable yet high-end Ultimate variant.

#5 2021 Opel Mokka e

In addition to gas and diesel versions, the 2021 Mokka also gets its first all-electric iteration. The model comes powered by an underfloor-mounted 50kWh battery pack that feeds one electric motor. The system peaks at 136 hps, 192 lb-ft of torque, and allows for 324 kilometers of driving according to the WLTP cycle.

#6 2021 Opel Zafira-e Life

Without a doubt, the 2021 Opel Zafira-e Life minivan is a flagship model in the range, both price and features-wise. It is offered in 3 sizes and several passenger configurations, seating from 5 to 7 people.

#7 2021 Opel Corsa-e

The all-electric Corsa-e arrives as a small EV for the people that is expected to democratize electric mobility with its 20,000 euros starting price when the Environmental Bonus is included.

#8 2021 Opel Grandland X Hybrid

Opel’s lineup review wont be complete without featuring the most powerful flagship SUV model. This PHEV shares underpinnings with the plugin version of the Peugeot 3008 crossover and comes in tow variants.

#9 2021 Opel Vivaro-e

In 2021, Opel is following up on the updated Vivaro van with a new all-electric model. It gets a similar drivetrain configuration to other EVs from the brand: there is one motor with 136 horses and two battery options, both compatible with DC stations.
