The 1000ZE/X represented Empire’s migration to a true moving iron cartridge. Not only did the moving iron cartridge have one of the lowest moving mass stylus assemblies, it also included a revolutionary laminated pole piece structure. Shure’s V15 Type II Improved was an upgrade to the Type II, introduced 4 years earlier. The improved model featured a lower-mass stylus and cantilever resulting in improved tracking ability in the bass and mid-range frequencies as well as eliminating the high frequency peak, a common characteristic of most phono cartridges.
