1983年11月2日　北海道岩内町生まれ。
3歳から電子オルガンを弾き始め、5歳でピアノに転向。
小学校高学年の頃から父親とその仲間によるセッションにも加わるようになり、ブルースやジャズを体感する。
東京都内音楽大学付属高校に進学のため単身上京し在学中より演奏活動を開始。
自己のトリオで演奏している所をドラマーの村上”ポンタ”秀一に認められ、20歳で新メンバーで結成されたNEW PONTA BOXに参加しアルバムリリース、ツアーを行う。
それと同時に彼の勧めでアーティスト名を「柴田敏弥」に変えて活動を開始した。
一方でジャズヴォーカリスト＆フリューゲルホーン奏者のTOKUのレギュラーバンドや民謡歌手の伊藤多喜雄のバンドにも参加し活動の幅を広げる。
The Gospellersのメンバーである北山陽一のソロプロジェクトではバンドマスターを務める。
クラブミュージックシーンでは20歳の頃よりCalmのバンドで活動。
数枚のアルバムに参加。
NY在住ギタリスト西藤大信が毎年夏に行う全国ツアーでは、来日しているNYのミュージシャンに混じり演奏、好評を博している。
2010年夏、無期限の休業を宣言した大黒摩季の休業前のツアーに参加し、重要な役目を果たした。
さらに2010年12月にはジャズシンガーakikoの『The Best Release Tour』でバンドマスターを務める他、J-POPSのレコーディング、ライブサポート等、さまざまなジャンルやバンドで活動中。
2011年よりアーティスト名を本名の「柴田敏孝」に戻す。
2016年 無期限の休業から活動を再開した大黒摩季の全国ツアーに参加し2020年よりバンドマスターに抜擢され、現在もライブ曲のアレンジなど制作にも関わっている。
各方面からの信頼も厚くセッションライブやホールツアー、レコーディングなど、ジャンルを問わず活動中。
ピアニストとしての活動の他、2021年よりサウンドプロデューサーとしてTokyo Groove Joshiの音楽監督も務める。

Born November 2, 1983 in Iwanai, Hokkaido.
From the age of three he started playing the electronic organ and at the age of five he switched to the piano.
From the time he was in the upper grades of elementary school, he began attending sessions with his father and his friends, and got a first-hand experience of blues and jazz.
He moved to Tokyo alone to attend a high school attached to the Tokyo Metropolitan College of Music, and began performing while still there.
He was recognized by drummer Shuichi ``Ponta'' Murakami when he was performing with his own trio, and at the age of 20 he joined NEW PONTA BOX, which was formed with new members, and released an album and went on tour.
At the same time, at his recommendation, she changed her artist name to ``Toshiya Shibata'' and began her career.
On the other hand, she expanded the range of her activities by participating in the regular band of jazz vocalist and flugelhorn player TOKU and the band of folk singer Takio Ito.
He is the bandmaster for The Gospellers member Yoichi Kitayama's solo project.
In the club music scene, he has been active with the band Calm since he was 20 years old.
He has appeared on several albums.
She performs with New York musicians visiting Japan on the national tour held every summer by New York-based guitarist Hironobu Saito, and has been well-received.
In the summer of 2010, he participated in the pre-hiatus tour of Maki Daiguro, who announced an indefinite hiatus, and played an important role.
Furthermore, in December 2010, he served as bandmaster for jazz singer Akiko's ``The Best Release Tour,'' and is active in various genres and bands, including recording J-POPS and supporting live performances.
In 2011, he changed his artist name back to his real name, Toshitaka Shibata.
In 2016, he participated in the national tour of Maki Oguro, who resumed his activities after an indefinite hiatus, and was selected as the bandmaster from 2020, and is currently involved in the production of live songs, such as arranging them.
He is highly trusted by various people and is active in various genres such as session live performances, hall tours, and recording.
In addition to his activities as a pianist, he has also been working as a sound producer and music director for Tokyo Groove Joshi since 2021.
