Welcome, it’s the tech4all channel – and this is where we inspect cool tech! Kospet is a name known for android smatwatches at very tempting prices.
Right now it’s around $170 - this puts the watch at a price segment above most popular sports watches – like Amazfit GTR, Huawei watch GT, even above the Ticwatch E and S. But it is more affordable than most of the WearOS smartwatches and also – cheaper than premium sports watches like the Garmin Fenix series, and costs less even than the Vivoactive line;
Arriving in a not too fancy box, but still looking decent, and well protected; inside the box we can find the watch – like most other Kospet models it arrives with a pre-installed screen protector. First very obvious fact – it is large! Just as comparison – 1.6’’ screen size, and 1.85 centimeters thick.
Underneath the display – there’s a quad-core mediate CPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.
he biggest selling point here is the battery – since we compare with smartphone – yeah, with this 1260MAH battery it can last between 1 and 4 days, depending on the kind of usage.
There’s a 4G slot, Bluetooth, WiFi , GPS – everything that a regular smartphone will have, even a microphone and speaker. Also – a heartrate sensor. It is NOT waterproof, and also – doesn’t shine with outstanding build quality.
Moving on with the software – it’s Android – if you have a phone running on this OS – it will feel familiar. There are two navigation. The App launcher is rather easy to use, as long as you don’t have too many apps.
There’s a special mode which brings better compatibility for some apps, and basically it zooms them out.
If you use the SIM cars slot – the watch can be fully functional as a smartphone – and you can make phone calls; probably best way to do that is using a Bluetooth headset.
To the watch navigation again – nicely grouped – quick toggles, music control – and yeah – you can playback music that is stored on the watch locally; Spotify can be controlled too, of course;
Messaging – you cannot respond if the notification is forwarded from your phone, but if you run separate Whatsapp on the watch then it works. No continuous heart-rate tracking, and unfortunately weak implementation for sport activities: the embedded apps don’t even let you use the GPS. So maybe if you run Strava, it will feel a little better.
I was surprised to see a wireless update – which is good news and looks like Kospet will be providing some software support.
At the end – I am with kind of mixed feelings. Very much recommend for a device with SIM card, and having WearOS being quite weak at that side, maybe the Kospet Prime is one of the best with such functionality. But if you are seeking for sleep tracking and sport activities, I’m sure you can find better matches.
