Sydney is the most recent city to be covered in an eerie smoke haze, a familiar sight to Australians during autumn and spring as fire crews make hazard reduction burns ahead of summer.
Air quality has hit very poor ratings across several Sydney monitoring districts since Monday, according to data from the NSW government, especially during the morning and evening periods.
Alexandria, in Sydney's east, on Monday had a fine particle pollution measurement of PM2.5 — worse than Beijing's 2022 average.
