About the Video
To prevent manipulation of investors, the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) introduced ASM stock list and GSM stock list. These are surveillance actions set up to protect the interests of the investors, and to alert and advice investors to be extra cautious while dealing in these securities. The NSE and BSE has defined a set of measures that they undertake in case any stock falls into these categories.
There are various stages of classification within ASM stocks and GSM stocks. ASM stocks have high low variation and have short term and long-term surveillance measures. They further have 2 stages and 4 stages respectively. GSM stocks have 4 stages and mostly consist of penny stocks.
