Spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Wang Wenbin accused the US authorities of "whitewashing terrorist organisations" in a press conference in Beijing on Friday.

The comments came after Washington excluded the militant group 'Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement' (ETIM) from the list of terrorist organisations.

"The double standard of counter-terrorism is the ugly side that applies to terrorist organisations and discards them. Terrorism is terrorism, and the United States should immediately correct their mistakes," Wang added.

China accuses ETIM of plotting terror acts in Xinjiang populated by an ethnic minority of Uighur Muslims.
