Talkernate History - Alternate African Decolonization

In this episode we discuss the pivotal era where Africa transitioned from colonial domination, to independence. Why did it happen when it did? Could it have happened earlier or later? Which nations transitioned smoothly and which did so chaotically? What could have been done to alter their fates? Could colonies exist up to the modern era? We discuss these issues and more, with particular attention paid to nations like Ghana, Mozambique, Angola, The Belgian Congo, Algeria, and others.
Max also tells a *thrilling* story about getting his hair cut by a woman from South Sudan.
We were originally going to do a single Africa episode centered around the Cold War era, but there was just too much material to cover in one episode. We're tentatively planning to do three Africa episodes in 2023. They will not be sequential. The next episode in the queue will be another short story compilation
