Alan Watts - It's Only a Game (2019)

In this lecture Alan Watts, based on his mindset of spirituality alludes to life on this planet and says that it's only a game and an illusion. He draws upon his experience to go into detail as to why he thinks that is the case .

He further aruges that by developing the understanding that it's only a game, you are able to take things to another level of engagement "without" getting caught up into things too much or taking them more seriously than needed.

He says that understanding that it's all a game and an illusion allows you to 'live up the illusion'.

Alan Watts suggests that being detached and reserved in life the result of an inner fear wich cuts you short of your experience of life. In order to live up to it, you should understand that it's only a game and then play it like it needs to be played.

Alan Wilson Watts known commonly as Alan Watts was a British philosopher (1915 - 1973) who popularised Eastern philosophy for a Western audience. Watts became an Episcopal priest in 1945, then left the ministry in 1950 and moved to California, where he joined the faculty of the American Academy of Asian Studies.
