Here are the 5 mistakes I’ve seen over and over as a hiring manager:
1️⃣ No intentional follow-up
Either nothing… or a generic “thank you.”
Neither helps your case.
A follow-up should remind them exactly where you create impact.
Example:
“After our conversation, I’m excited about the opportunity to help solve ___ and contribute to ___.”
Keep it simple. Keep it relevant.
2️⃣ Going silent
The interview may be done, evaluation isn’t.
Responsiveness still matters, clarity still matters.
How you communicate now is part of the decision.
3️⃣ Over-explaining
Candidates start second-guessing themselves.
Long messages, extra justification.
