Titiwangsa Lake Park: The Jewel of Kuala Lumpur

Titiwangsa Lake Park is part of the River of Life project which aims to revitalise various forgotten and hidden spaces along Kuala Lumpur's waterways. The park was reopened to the public on 15 December 2019 after an 18 months renovation.

The 140 acres park has been creatively designed to create a multi-functional recreational area suitable for people of all ages and of various physical abilities. Spatial hierarchy within the park is informed by the most current urban planning ideals, notably concepts from "Tropical Urban Design" and "Universal Accessibility". In fact, cross pollination of activities is encourage with the surrounding neighbourhood, schools and government institutions. Meanwhile, the overarching design philosophy is deeply rooted in the Aslian and Nusantarian beliefs in Ancestral & Spirit Worshipping, Kapitayan and Abangan Islam.

This park has been designed in such a way to educate the citizens in taking ownership of our waterways, nature and the Nusantarian civilisation. As an urban planner of Titiwangsa Lake Park, I believe in the next phase of Malaysia's urban development, we should focus on civic mindedness, creative use of urban space, tropical urban design and a revival of Nusantarian civilisation. All these elements have been carefully embedded within the Titiwangsa Lake Park so as to spark a revolution in the way we think of our cities. Hence, visitors are encouraged to use, explore and experience the park in detail.

Overall, Titiwangsa Lake Park is an urban park which welcomes all.
