Vladimir is one of the oldest towns of Russia. Founded in 990 or in 1108. Yes, there are two versions of the date of foundation, the historians still argue about.

By first version, Vladimir (which is literally the town of Prince Vladimir) was founded in 990 by Vladimir Sviatoslavich.

By the second version, Vladimir was founded in 1108 by Vladimir II Monomakh in 1108 with him founding a fortress there.

This or that way, but Vladimir was founded on the bank of Klyazma river. To 13th venture it is became the center of Vladimir-Suzdal Principiality and the capital of North-Eastern Ancient Russia.

Nowadays Vladimir is the center of Vladimir region of Russia. 190km east from Moscow.

The population is 357,000 residents.

Vladimir is a part of Golden Ring of Russia and became the final 8th town of Golden Ring that we have visited.
