Backpacking the Bloodroot Trail | Salamonie Lake | Her FIRST Backpacking Trip EVER | Indiana

On this overnight adventure, my daughter joins me for her first backpacking trip ever. We chose to hike and camp on the Bloodroot Trail at Salamonie Lake in northern Indiana because of its relatively flat terrain and its lakeside campsites with its amazing views. The Bloodroot Trail at Salamonie Lake is a 13-mile loop with options to make it into shorter loops if you choose. It is one of the few backcountry camping that is available for backpackers in northern Indiana

We hiked in around 5 miles and explored & filmed the Bloodroot Trail campsites 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5. We set up camp at the picturesque site #5 out on the point and had a wonderful dinner and campfire before settling into our hammocks for a great night. This was also her first time sleeping in a hammock as well... We woke to a beautiful sunrise on the lake and packed up and headed back to the parking lot. It was a wonderful trip that we will remember for years to come.
