'Not allowed': Chris Minns on 'Teachers for Palestine' movement
A group called 'Teachers for Palestine' is pushing for teachers to light up schools in support of Palestine.
In social media posts, the group encourages students to skip school for a planned protest on Friday and for teachers and students to wear pro-Palestinian badges.
According to the New South Wales Education Department, teachers are expected to be politically neutral during class and on school grounds.
New South Wales Premier Chris Minns told Sky News Australia there is no place for political action in schools.
“The rules are very clear in place for NSW public education and political speech from the workforce is not allowed and that is for a very good reason and that is public education is for everybody,” Mr Minns said.
