What Happens to the Food You Donate to Stamp Out Hunger?

Every May, millions of Americans leave bags of food by their mailbox for Stamp Out Hunger, the largest one-day food drive in the United States. But once that food is picked up, what happens next?

In this video, we explain how Stamp Out Hunger works, why the month of May is especially important for food banks, and the hidden logistics challenge that happens after the food is collected.

This year, Move For Hunger and our network of transportation partners helped move 227,387 pounds of donated food from collection sites to local food banks across the country.

Stamp Out Hunger works because every part of the chain matters. Residents donate. Letter carriers collect. Volunteers sort. Transportation partners move the food. And food banks get it to families who need it most.
