Kim and Buff Fix 1978 Z-7 Broken Exhaust Manifold Bolts

It can be very difficult to remove stubborn exhaust studs from antique car engines. This Ford 200 cu inch inline six engine is in excellent condition and running great. This simple exhaust leak repair has gone from a one hour gasket to a week long saga. In order to record the work being done, we have removed the hood and set up the time lapse camera. The easiest way to repair the broken bolts was to completely disassemble the engine and remove the cylinder head. The 200 has an unusual engine design so that the intake manifold is cast as on piece with the head. We talk about all the traditional methods of broken bolt removal that were tried and failed on this project. Persistence is key. By the end of the video we are able to repair ALL of the damaged hardware to save the original head. In total this was about 4 days of progress crammed into a single 13 minute video.
