The Sun’s Felicity Cross takes on Catchphrase with Stephen Mulhern

THERE are plenty of tough jobs on TV – grilling politicians for Newsnight or grappling with snakes on I’m A Celebrity.

But for Stephen Mulhern, it’s his role as host of Celebrity Catchphrase that keeps him up at night.

“I think it’s the only game show on the telly that you can never call because it’s not general knowledge – I get scared because when the celebrities don’t get them right, I start, thinking ‘you’re going to walk away the first person not knowing any of the answers’.

“I won’t tell you who, but we’ve had one contestant this year that on the Super Catchphase did really well until the final round, where they only got the £2,500 and that was awkward.

“I know it’s still two and a half grand for each end, but I have to go, all excited, ‘You’ve won £2,500!’

“I hope that’s not too embarrassing for them because at least they’ve got to play.”
