Whitewashing Handmade Coffee Table

In this video we are creating a weathered grey look for Lindsey's coffee table that her dad made her.

First, we painted the body of the table with Kiltz primer. After that dried we painted it with a creamy off white color. (We just mixed a bunch of paints we had left over from other projects: acrylics, latex and chalk paint.)

Second, we stained the table top/lid with Rust-oleum dark walnut and Rust-oleum carbon grey. I took turns dipping my brush between the two stains. I used an old rag to wipe off and rub in excess stain. (Note: Stained rags are combustible. Handle with caution.)

Third, we sanded the table top/lid with an orbital sander (80 grit) and whitewashed the top. We mixed 1/2 white acrylic paint and 1/2 water into a small plastic cup. We wiped off and rubbed in the excess with an old t-shirt.

Fourth, we clear coated with Polycrylic. (1 coat for the body of the table and 3 coats for the top.) For smooth surface lightly hand sand between coats.

Disclaimer: Lindsey refused to be in the video so I had to cut some clips short LOL. #HappyCrafting
