During the final meters of a race walking event, one athlete made a small mistake and slowed down too early. As she tried to recover, her opponent tripped and briefly started running to regain balance. Even though running is normally illegal in race walking, officials allowed it since it wasn’t intentional.
And that decision ended up deciding the race.
