I Taught Myself How To Solder My FPV Drone And Then This Happened (Cinelog30 Motor Swap Test Flight)

In this episode of my FPV journey, I crash my GEPRC Cinelog 30 V3 trying to level up my flying—and instead of sending it in for repair, I do something I’ve never done before: I learn how to solder and replace the broken motor myself.

This is the most hands-on I’ve ever been with an FPV drone, and it was nerve-wracking. I drove to PyroDrone in Los Angeles, picked up new 1404 motors, got my first soldering iron, and practiced on test boards until I felt (kind of) ready. Then I fully disassembled the drone, swapped the motor, soldered it into place—and prayed it would still work.

Spoiler: It powered up. It even flew. But something didn’t feel right…
