Yurt, winter, Finland update 01/2020
1st winter in the yurt as inhabitant of the #NomadTown Joensuu, a #ResilienceHub in eastern Finland.
Top:
Yurt is easily warm. At -20°C outside I can easily have +20°C inside.
The yurt and stove ("Emma130" rocket stove) combo and my kitchen and sleeping setup as well as my sewing station works well.
Not so Top:
In terms of electricity I'm struggling a bit. I'm mainly using two 12 or so year old 100W solar panels and it's the darkest time of the year. Cloud cover during winters and even Cummulus clouds are becoming more and more common.
Currently experimenting with smaller scale (3.25V energy harvesting systems).
The #NomadTown is a result of using the survival supertool "#FullMoonFullStop" for a period of two years.
"S.T.O.P." and the ResilienceHub "NomadTown" are projects of Sydänlanka ry.
WHY??
I believe that a communal, peaceful, resilient and potentially nomadic lifestyle provides the best chance for survival of future generations, mainly by reducing our impact and as it so far seems also by increasing lifequality and simplicity.
It's a time of emergency of a global scale, which we can only deal with by united but mainly local action.
A time also for bold steps into adventure and taking unknown risks.
It seems that our possibilities for the repair of our culture are endless and sufficient when we think of the role which deep nature connection plays in this mission.
