Paul Scofield - a BBC "Arena" Documentary
Background
This is a highly significant documentary of record about one of the greatest actors of stage and screen. It is no longer available in any format. In the interests of art, of education, of culture - here it is.

The Man and the Actor
"David Paul Scofield CH CBE (21 January 1922 – 19 March 2008) was an English actor of stage and screen who was known for his striking presence, distinctive voice, and for the clarity and effortless intensity of his delivery.
Regarded as one of the greatest Shakespearean actors of all time, Scofield preferred the stage over film. This, and his decision to put his family first, has meant that he has never been as well known outside the United Kingdom as some other actors". (Courtesy of Wikipedia).
Upload Reasons
No longer available to view or purchase anywhere as far as I can see, so in good conscience I have uploaded the only recording I could find of this marvellous documentary. It was originally captured in 6 parts which I have attempted to stitch together, somewhat imperfectly.
Please forgive the variable video quality too: I can't recall the source, but I strongly believe this documentary should again see the light of day, in honour of Paul Scofield.
Music
Many of my Subs will recognise the music used in this production - in particular, Vaughan Williams and Butterworth.
Produced and directed by David Thompson.
