Colombia’s Duque seeks to calm protest as grievances fester

Colombia’s President Ivan Duque has started a national conversation with different sectors of society to try to end long-running demonstrations.
Peaceful marches took place in Bogota and Medellin, while roadblocks across the country slowed food deliveries, causing some prices to rise.
Impeding supplies of food and other items, such as oxygen, is never justified, Duque said and the government is deploying riot police and the army to lift the barricades.
Those on the streets said they remain sceptical of Duque's overtures and that they do not see a solution in sight.
