Replacing/Reversing Makita 2012NB Planer Blade

I decided to reverse the blades of my Makita 2012NB planer. I noticed that it has gotten louder and the out-feed rate has become slow (indications that the blade is dull). I did notice before that i ran a reclined wood through the planer hitting a nail or screw(embedded on the wood) which caused chipping on the blade (hence the very obvious planing marks).
