UK health secretary flouts own COVID-19 rules by kissing advisor

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has accepted an apology from Health Secretary Matt Hancock after pictures emerged of him kissing an advisor in breach of his own rules on social distancing.

Boris Johnson says he considers the matter closed but the opposition have called for Mr Hancock's resignation.

Mr Hancock, who is married, was snapped kissing Gina Coladangelo but UK COVID-19 laws state if the activity is not reasonably necessary it is against the law.

In a statement Mr Hancock said he accepted he “breached the social distancing guidance” and apologised for the act.

The health secretary faces a penalty notice or unlimited fine if he is found to have broken the law.
