Till the Well Runs Dry
This Arroyo Currents video critiques Pasadena's 25 year water plan, which relies heavily on draining the Arroyo Seco stream during dry periods and further depleting the Raymond Groundwater Basin. The Arroyo Seco is a major tributary of the Los Angeles River and once was a favorite stream for the now-endangered Southern Steelhead trout. Local water officials designed a "safe yield" management plan for the Raymond Basin 75 years ago, but the groundwater levels beneath Pasadena have continued a steady decline. The Arroyo Seco Foundation and local activists are insisting on a resilient water plan that protects vital natural resources like the Arroyo watershed and the Raymond Basin in the era of climate change and preserves them for future generations.
