89 Shades of Green in Los Angeles | Visible Statements

When does a light green become a dark green? Is there anyway to actually quantify how many shades of color we see in a day?

Visible Statements are more a collection of moving images with sound than a documentary that draws direct inspiration from Ed Ruscha's "26 Gas Stations" and William Eggleston's "William Eggleston's Guide."

Many times I get caught up in whether a story works or not, with this project that isn’t a concern—there is no story here.

This is documentation of Los Angeles under an arbitrary constraint—shadows, colors, people, etc. Visible Statements allows me to engage with the city in a basic way, a way that I miss—on foot, with eyes and ears open.

Special thanks to Alex Tyson (www.alextyson.net) for production help.
