Maggies Dream Borderline 05 July 1991 AUDIO ONLY

Another fantastic USA Rock band who only released one album. Again, I feel fortunate that as a tape trader at the time with a USA friend, he sent a copy of the song 'Human' on a cassette. I really dug the vibe, especially the harmonies, and as they were playing the Borderline club shortly after I heard it, I bought my ticket immediately. Their lone album was a hybrid of funk, soul and rock with Latin twists on some songs. Their sound is also compared to that of Lenny Kravitz who actually auditioned with the band. That could well have been a completely different outcome altogether. This album also reminds me of Minnesota Funk Rock legend Jessie Johnson on his mid 90s album Bare my Naked Soul. The band just oozes Hippy cool, and I swear the singer must have been high as a kite at this gig. Just listen to his on stage anonymous chats to members of the crowd (I have highlighted an example in the tracklist). Basically, this band should have been better. They did earn support slots on tour with Fishbone and Faith no More whilst in their prime. I highly recommend you check out their self titled debut and then follow that up with a view of the Shocking Club Milano performance. On a final note, I remember seeing Naomi Campbell on TV in 1996 singing a cover of their song Love and Tears (Also on You Tube).
