Moscow can be a fascinating place to visit if you can withstand the extremes of temperature that can be both good and bad depending on how best you make of the weather. Moscow is carpeted with snow from November to March while July and August are warm and rainy.

On the other hand, Moscow is abuzz with activities and places to see that every tourist will like. The history and elegance of the places to visit and see can be truly memorable, whether it is subway stations, St Basil, or Red Square.

Red Square symbolizes Russia that never fails to dazzle visitors whether in snow-covered winter or warm summer. The two places of interest among several others here are St Basil's Cathedral and Lenin's Mausoleum.

St Basil was originally constructed between 1550 and 1555 to mark the victory of Ivan the Terrible over Tartar stronghold Kazan. Its multi-colored onion-shaped dome famous across the world as depicted in picture postcards narrowly escaped being destroyed by Napoleon's troops in 1812.

Lenin's mausoleum has symbolic significance in the architectural design and use of colored stones. The red granite is symbolic of communism while black labradorite represents mourning. Within the mausoleum, the embalmed body of Lenin is on display in a crystal casket. No wonder mausoleum attracts a significantly large number of visitors even as doubts have been raised by some people that it is a wax copy of Lenin.

Next, you can head straight to Kremlin which is historic, legendary, and mythological. This is a medieval fortress that first served as the hunting lodge of Prince Yuri Dolgorukiy. Later, it turned into a fortified town. Within the precincts, there is enough to see that is a historical narrative as Kremlin has been through the tyranny of Czars and the height of communism.

The other places to see include Ivan the Great Belltower, State Kremlin Palace, and the Senate, the official presidential palace.
