FEMALE MOTORCYCLE DRAG RACER SETS GSXR 1000 ALL MOTOR DRAG BIKE WORLD RECORD AT HER FIRST PRO RACE

One of the best stories to come out of the XDA Superbike Showdown is young Ashley Cotnoir shocking the Real Street field, and even her own fiancé, by setting a new all-motor record at an impressive 7.70, taking out her fiancé Michael Sweeney Jr.’s 7.74 mark on her SRW Precision Race Engine prepared Suzuki GSXR 1000. Not only was it Cotnoir’s first race, it was the first time this new build had ever been down the race track. Cotnoir showed remarkable consistency, scoring three wins on race day, beating Sweeney Jr. in round No. 2, before a fuel issue forced her out of competition. Nonetheless it was an amazing debut and clearly the Real Street sportbike Motorcycle Drag Racing class has a new championship contender! Cotnoir becomes the first Real Street female to hit the 7s and the 7.70 makes her one of the quickest no-bar female racers in the world.

Here is what Cotnoir posted about the weekend -

Race Recap......

I am unbelievably humbled by the welcoming I received this past weekend in my Pro Debut in Real Street. As many of you know we missed the first two races due to mechanical issues of building a brand new build. We headed down to our first XDA race of the year not knowing what to expect on two untested bikes. I knew hoping on my bike was going to be a huge learning curve for me. I have never used a Gen 2 or been on a bike of this capability not to mention I haven’t sat on a bike since the XDA race in September of 2018. I went into testing on Friday morning with a clear head and opened ears for all the learning I knew I needed to endure before the first Qualifier at 8:00 that night. My first full pass was a 7.96, as the day went on I got more comfortable with the bike and was prepared when the 8:00 Qualifier rolled around. The 1st Qualifier didn’t go as planned due to burning the clutch out of the bike and not being able to make a full pass. I knew heading into Saturday morning I needed to bring my A game! The 2nd Qualifier came and I managed to go a 7.91 which officially made me the First Lady in Real Street to go 7 Seconds, but don’t think I was done there yet with those 7 second passes! The 3rd Qualifier I went even faster with a 7.88. Finally the last qualifier was here and I was able to click off a 7.70 @ 176 which bumped me up on the list to #3 Qualifier & snagged me the All Motor Real Street Record along with making me the fastest woman in the history of the class. I ended up getting through Round 1 with a 7.70 and onto Round 2 where I had to race my Fiancé. I was able to get the win with a 7.72 and was on my way to the Semi’s to race the champion of last year. Spencer and I both had horrible runs as his bike shut off and wouldn’t restart and mine nosed over and hurt the engine. I was able to get the win but knew my bike was broken and I wasn’t going to be able to make the Finals. Instead of it being a broke bye final I passed the scales and disqualified myself to give Spencer a chance to go to finals. All the countless hours in the garage finally paid off and I want to take a second to thank everyone for all of the kind words this past weekend, I’ll cherish these memories for a lifetime! We already have her torn down and are getting ready for WPGC Bike Fest in July!
