Insulin Resistance Is Making Us Fatter and Sicker Than Ever Before

Did you know that over half of all adults in the US are insulin resistant, with most other countries either worse or not far behind?

Why does this matter? Well….

Alzheimer’s, diabetes, hypertension, weight gain, fatty liver, dementia, low testosterone, menstrual irregularities, infertility and so much more are all linked to or in some cases caused by insulin resistance!

On this week’s episode I chat with Dr. Benjamin Bikman about the Mind-Blowing Science of Fat-Burning and Insulin Resistance.

How do you know if you have insulin resistance?

In the post Dr. Bikman shares the warning signs of insulin resistance: excess belly fat, high blood pressure, a family history of heart disease, high levels of blood triglycerides, easily retaining water, patches of darker-colored skin or little bumps of skin (i.e., “skin tags”)...

Also you might be at risk if you have a family member with insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes, feeling tired a couple of hours after lunch, gestational diabetes or polycystic ovarian syndrome (for women), or low testosterone (for men). Dr. Bikman says that if you answered ‘yes’ to two or more of these, then you're likely insulin resistant.

This might be the most important podcast you listen to this week!
