Coronavirus vaccines arrive at a UK hospital ahead of world’s first national vaccine rollout

Croydon University Hospital in south London has received one of the first batches of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine as mass vaccinations were set to begin on December 8, 2020. Top priority will be given to those aged 80 and above, frontline healthcare workers and care home staff. Meanwhile, in Russia a mass inoculation programme started with Russian-made Sputnik V shots on December 5, while Indonesia received 1.2 million Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines from China. As the world recorded more than 66 million Covid-19 cases, countries are racing to roll out mass vaccinations to fight the ongoing pandemic.
