Threshold Training for Runners | Ultra Marathon Running | PROJECT ARC Training Plan

First week of my Arc training. 4 week block focussing on Threshold and Aerobic Power training. I have a number of lessons learnt from the last time I trained for the Arc of Attrition - looking back I took 2 week off due to holiday and injury. Perhaps that's the extra edge I need to get sub 24hr. Let see how it goes with my ultra marathon training plan.

Here's a couple of workouts for you to try out:

Workout 1
20 min @ 5RPE WUP
2 x (6x400m @ 8RPE with 1 min rec @ 4RPE)
4 min @ 5 RPE active recovery
2 x (6x400m @ 8RPE with 1 min rec @ 4RPE)
10 min @ 5 RPE Cool down

Workout 2
20 min @ 5RPE WUP
10 x (1 min @ 8RPE with 2 min @ 6RPE)
20 min @ 5 RPE Cool down

I run to RPE (rate of perceived exertion) and not heart rate - 1 = sitting down and 10 = 100m sprint. Its a great way of levelling all abilities.
