RACR for Bundesliga – Live Remote Immersive Audio Mixing in Germany

The RACR (Remote Audio Control Room) project developed by Sportcast, VIDI and Felix Krückels is the first time that Dolby Atmos has been used on a regular basis in a live broadcast context for top-league soccer in Germany. Between 35 and 40 matches per season (currently one top match every Saturday evening) are produced for Sky with this setup.

Complementing the UHD/HDR picture quality with a powerful, immersive audio experience, the audio is not mixed inside the OB truck at the arena, but rather in a control room in Darmstadt (near Frankfurt), using an mc²56 audio production console, which leverages two important features: it is, in fact, a sophisticated remote control of an A__UHD Core that does the DSP processing anywhere in the world. And it is open-standards IP-based. RAVENNA plays a big part in this project.
