If you’re headed to Hawaii, forget about Waikiki. If you’re looking for some rest & relaxation or if you prefer to get away from the crowds, stay & play on the North Shore of Oahu. The best hotel on the North Shore is the Turtle Bay Hilton, but many prefer to stay in the condos at Kuilima Est. located at Turtle Bay. We purchased one of the condo’s at Kuilima because the North Shore of Oahu is so amazing. It’s currently being used as a vacation rental.
Here’s the best things to do in Hawaii on Oahu
#1 Sea Life Park. They have a Sealion show & a dolphin show. You can feed love birds or turtles. You can even get in the water with the dolphins. If you’re traveling with kids, they’ll love Sea Life Park.
#2 is Hanauma bay. Snorkeling at Hanauma bay is like swimming in a giant fishbowl. There are so many wonderful animals. What separates Hanauma bay from most snorkeling spots is that the fish are used to being around people, so they don’t scatter when you approach.
#3 is Sharks Cove is a wonderful place to snorkel on the North Shore but you can get large waves, in the winter. You’ll want to check the tide chart before you go snorkel at low tide.
#4 is the Dole Plantation You’ll want to stop in for some of their world-famous Pineapple ice cream. It’s amazing.
#5 is the most amazing place on the island. The Polnesian Cultural Center. They do an amazing job teaching about the different island cultures of the Pacific. You’ll travel to Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Hawaii, Tahiti & New Zealand where you’ll be entertained & have the opportunity to participate in some of their traditions. The PCC puts on a delicious luau & an amazing night show.
Oahu has many great hikes. Diamond Head & the Lanikai Pillbox hike boast incredible views. Looking for waterfalls? Waimea falls Park, Manoa Falls trail, Likeke falls & more.
#6 is my favorite hike is Maunawili waterfall. You’ll feel like you’re in the middle of the jungle & the waterfall is beautiful.
#7 The Beach. Any beach. They’re all wonderful. If you’re on Oahu during the winter, you’ll want to visit some of the world-famous surfing beaches like, Sunset, Pipeline & Waimea. Watching surfers challenge mother nature on these monstrous waves is entertaining & inspiring. The beaches are quieter & less crowded on the North Shore too. I recommend surf lessons. It WILL be one of the most memorable thing you do. The beach is great for bodyboarding, playing in the sand, sun & water.
For many, the beach is a great place to read a book & sunbathe. Hawaii’s beaches are among the best in the world.
#8 is Kualoa Ranch has loads of activities & Tours.
#9 is Wiamea on the North Shore. You can start the day with a hike to Wiamea falls & end at Wiamea Bay one of the most amazing beaches on the island. It’s a great place to spend the day.
#10 is my favorite surf town in the world, Hale’iwa. It a great place to shop, eat or just hang out. You can rent surf boards, stand up paddle boards, snorkel gear & more. Seek out Mosimoto’s where you can get the best shave ice on the island.
Four great restaurants on or near the North Shore. Breakfast, Hukilau Café. A great cheeseburger, stop by Seven Brothers. For Dinner, LeiLei’s at Turtle Bay next to our condo. & for a treat, make sure you stop by Teds Bakery near Sunset Beach.
