Joe E. Brown and Jackie Robinson on "I've Got a Secret" (January 9, 1957) - Part 3 of 3
Joe E. Brown and Jackie Robinson appear (separately) as guests on "I"ve Got a Secret" in this episode from early 1957 with host Garry Moore and panelists Bill Cullen, Jayne Meadows, Henry Morgan, and Faye Emerson.
This segment (the third of three) features an audience Q&A session with baseball great Jackie Robinson, who had just announced his retirement from the sport to take an executive position with Chock Full O' Nuts. It's still astonishing, in light of the salaries that athletes of his caliber command today, to realize that major-league players in all sports routinely worked at "regular" jobs during the off-season, and strove for gainful employment after retiring from their sport, as Jackie does here at the tired old age of 38.
