Lord Shiva, also known as Adi Shakti is one of three most revered Gods in Hindu mythology. He is part of the Holy trinity along with Brahma (the creator) and Vishnu (the preserver). Shiva is known as the destroyer or the transformer. Also known as Bhole Bhandari, Shiva is known as one of the most benevolent Gods in Hinduism and one who showers his devotees with immense love and yet destroys those who do evil.

The song is about the 12 Jyotirlings of Shiva. The story on “Jyotirlinga" is found in the Shiva Purana. Debate over supremacy was going on between Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma, Big pillar of aura or light was produced by Lord Shiva. He asked both Brahma and Vishnu to find the end of the light in both directions. Lord Brahma lied that he found the end, Lord Vishnu accepted the defeat. Lord Shiva then cursed Lord Brahma that even though he is the creator of the Universe, he won't be worshipped. And the Jyotirlingas here are believed to have appeared from that infinite pillar of light produced by Lord Shiva.

There are 12 Jyotirlinga in India. It is believed that Lord Shiva first manifested himself on Earth on the night of the Aridra Nakshatra and hence we all pray and praise the Jyotirlinga. There is no unique appearance to mark the Jyotirlingas. Originally there were 64 Jyotirlingas out of which 12 are considered to be highly auspicious and holy. The 12 Jyotirlinga temples in India take the name of the presiding deity. Each considered a different manifestation of Lord Shiva. The primary image as all these lingas is the “lingam” representing the beginning and end stambh pillar or the infinite nature of Lord Shiva.
