Early Texas Tech MBB Portal Targets
Furman G JP Pegues (Pa- Geese)
6-1 with 1 year of eligibility remaining
Averaged 18.4 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 4.8 APG
JP is an elite shooter, passer and good in the P&R as the PBH
On a high usage rate, he shot 36.2% from 3 and averaged just 2 turnovers per game
He was asked to create a lot for Furman in the half-court averaging 4.8 APG
He ranked Top 70 in the country in both scoring and assists per game
You may remember him for his game-winning shot in the NCAA Tournament vs. Virginia in 2023
RC‘s Take: JP is a guy who would make the Red Raiders have a great trio of guards in Pop, Chance, and JP. Still very early on in his recruitment, but no doubt a name to monitor for the Red Raiders

Early Texas Tech MBB Portal Targets
Furman G Marcus Foster
6-4 Guard with 1 year of eligibility left
Tech reached out early to Foster after he entered the portal
Averaged 17 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.8 apg and a steal per game
Plays a bit bigger than his size due to his length
Similar in size to Kerwin Walton, but he has a better handle and can be a PBH in transition and the P&R.
Only shot 29.7% from 3 last season, but in the year prior shot 36%. Looks as though the drastic dip in shooting efficiency from deep is due to usage. In 2023-24, Foster had a 27.2% USG%. For reference, Pop Isaacs has a 28.5 USG%.
He looks like he’s more of a guy who can create, but thrives off the ball and finds space off screens and backcuts
RC’s Take: Still early on in the portal process, but Tech does seemingly have a real interest in both these Furman guards.
