Building Cattle Pens - Part 2 The Bud Box

We finally got back going on our cattle working facility project. We built a lane leading to our barn first. This is where we will bring in cattle from other pastures to work them and also load cattle back out. You can check out that video from several weeks back, Building Cattle Pens - Part 1

The second part of the project is building the bud box. The bud box will be located between the Arrowquip squeeze chute and our catch lot area. It is designed to work with a cows natural instincts to maneuver the cattle to the squeeze chute easier and more efficiently. We are building it mostly out of metal panels and gates, with the exception of a few wooden posts.

We will be using the following
2 8' Priefert gates
4 12' metal gates
2 6-7" wooden posts
6 bar metal panels
Metal pipe (cut to length) 2 3/8" diameter
Metal pipe (9') 3" diameter for hanging gates

We are cutting most everything with our Acetylene torch and welding it with our Miller Bobcat 260 EFI Welder. For our vertical welds we are using 6011 rods. For our horizontal welds we are using Lincoln Excalibur 7018 rods.
