*Self forgetfulness*
*Param Pujya Ma (Arpana Trust)* responds to a question on *"Self forgetfulness"* and has explained it's *core spiritual concepts:*
*The Highest Level of Consciousness (Self-Forgetfulness)*
*Shifting to Awareness:*
Ma explains that the highest stage of consciousness occurs when the self completely transforms into pure awareness [00:17].
*The Concept of Yatra Yatra Drishtigatva:*
*Wherever your vision goes, whoever you look at or meet, you completely forget your own personality and identify entirely with the other person [00:28, 01:16].*
You begin to perceive things as if you are them [00:44].
*Selfless Actions & Helping Others:*
A true sage or realized soul (siddha purush) has no personal ego, physical, emotional, or intellectual needs [01:45, 07:06].
They use their energy exclusively to help others achieve their aspirations and desires.
Even if someone is prone to constant failures, an enlightened soul will identify with them and do their absolute best to make them succeed [01:54, 02:23].
*Divine Examples of Ego-less Identification*
Ma uses major spiritual and historical figures to illustrate absolute selflessness and complete disregard for personal ego:
*Lord Krishna as a Charioteer:*
Despite being the Supreme Lord, Krishna willingly became a humble chariot driver (sarathi) for Arjuna because He completely identified with him to protect and support him [04:07, 05:19].
*Jesus Christ:*
When Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate and asked to perform a miracle to save himself from the cross, he refused [05:31].
Although he had performed countless miracles to heal the blind and lepers out of service to others, he did not use his power to protect his own body, choosing instead to accept the crucifixion [05:49, 06:05].
*Lord Rama:*
Lord Rama accepted exile (banvas) and faced immense obstacles and problems without being bothered by personal sacrifices, completely identifying with the duty of the situation [06:32, 06:53].
*Practicing Detachment and Reaching the Atma*
*The Non-Participating Witness:*
In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna states that He abides in everyone's heart [07:48].
He functions as a non-participating witness, which is what the soul (atma) is [08:12].
*Detaching from Mind and Body:*
*To progress spiritually, we must observe our own minds and bodies from a distance [08:26].*
*We must embrace the mindset of: "I am not this body, I am not this mind, I am not this intellect; I am the Atma" [08:37, 08:56].*
*The Path of Advaita (Non-Duality):*
*The moment you truly step into the realm of the atma, you naturally start identifying with other people, and your body begins existing solely to serve others [09:03].*
*This complete external identification and unity is the very beginning and final resting place of Advaita (non-duality) [09:14, 09:25].*
