2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV First Edition RST Review: All the Bells and Whistles

Chevrolet’s first mainstream all-electric pickup truck went on sale to fleet customers last year in stripped-down Work Truck form, and now Chevy is rolling out the fully loaded flagship version for general consumers. The Silverado EV First Edition RST comes with a raft of high-end standard and available features, including an adaptive air suspension, four-wheel steering, massive 24-inch alloy wheels, a 17-inch infotainment touchscreen, an 11-inch configurable digital gauge cluster and a trailering-capable version of GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driver-assist system.

The First Edition RST also boasts the most powerful version of the Silverado EV’s powertrain — Wide Open Watts (or WOW) mode unleashes 754 horsepower and more than 784 pounds-feet of torque. That’s a big step up from the Work Truck version’s 510 hp and 615 pounds-feet of torque.

All Silverado EVs are four-door crew cabs with a slightly more streamlined shape than the average full-size pickup truck, and the First Edition RST gets a new feature that builds on the versatility of GM’s available Multi-Flex Tailgate. A Multi-Flex Midgate expands the Silverado EV’s cargo versatility in a novel way: The forward wall of the pickup bed can be folded down along with the rear seatbacks in a 60/40 split after the rear seat cushions are flipped forward. This essentially extends the pickup bed into the cabin, and if more vertical space is needed, the rear window can also be removed and stowed securely within the folded-down bed wall.
