Wild Amazons of San Diego - SoCal Parrot

Nov. 21st, 2014 was one of the most mysterious yet beautiful events unfolded before my eyes. Connie and I were invited to the Figgy's release site to see the wild amazon flock. We waited till dusk in the parking lot of the courthouse. The sun was going down and the sky had a unique purplish tint. Suddenly, first I saw a few, then a dozen, then hundreds with distinguishable light green feathers and realized that these were the green wild Amazons.
I stared in awe as this flock of wild Amazon circled in the sky around the courthouse. Afterwards, they stopped and rested along the trees top in a nearby. These Amazons were loudly chatting amongst themselves but after ten to fifteen minutes all went silent. Somehow they all communicated then took off and headed out in one direction and roosted nearby the ballpark.
The next evening, we joined with SoCal parrot to bring Figgy and other 17 of the healthy wild amazons with us to the site for the release back to the wild. Meanwhile we waited for the wild flock to show up. It was fascinating and exciting to see the beautiful sight of their arrival again. The ≈475 wild amazons all flew to surrounding trees and were perched on the tree top watching each one of 18 Amazons being released and reunited into the flock.
After the release they were all nonstop chatting, very distinguishable vocalization and roosting on the trees for the night. The next morning when sun was coming up, all of the Amazons chatted with one another as a group together for a few moments and then they split apart and flew off to the cities to their preferable habitat.
