(HD) Floating Candle-holder, a tribute to Newton. Timelapse.

The purpose of this candle-light holder is to keep the flame of the candle in the exact same position relative to the table as much as possible.

This candle light holder is based on mechanisms devised by Newton for his optical experiments, but improved to give a very accurate correction for the properties of the candle flame, as well as to correct for the change in the water-level in the glass cylinder as the floatation buoy is elevated out of the water during use.

CADed in Autodesk Inventor 2012, printed on a Stratasys 3D printer in ABS plastic. The counterweight is made from brass and manually turned by me.

This is a project of mine in the 2012 Rapid Product Development course at the department of Industrial Design at Lund Institute of Technology, Lund University, Sweden
