An Overview of Diocletian's Reforms
Following the Crisis of the Third Century, the Roman Empire was reunified under a series of leaders, most notably Diocletian. After seizing power in 284 CE Emperor Diocletian issued a series of reforms that aimed to strengthen the Empire and ensure that it never again broke apart. Those reforms were, among others, the Tetrarchy, the Edict of Maximum Prices, and the complete reorganization of the military and the reworking of the structure of the government.
