However, in 1973, a crisis hit the United States. It was related to the oil embargo in protest of the US providing military assistance to Israel.
The cost of fuel increased for several times and a restriction on the supply of fuel in one hand was introduced. In this situation, large cars were not in demand. In this regard, car production fell from one million per year to a modest one hundred thousand. Manufacturers tried to attract customers by issuing "limited versions" and "special equipment", as a result of which two versions were released: "Spirit of America" and "Landau" (read "Lando").
