Star Fox Assault [1] - The Forgotten Franchise Showpiece

Star Fox: Assault from Namco back in 2005 for the GameCube is not often talked about, and it seems to be forgotten among the widespread hate talk of Starfox Adventures and the franchise as a whole. While the game does exhibit some flaws, it holds the privilege of being the only true sequel to the origin story of Star Fox and Star Fox 64, and even Starfox Adventures, successfully expanding the storyline of the franchise. Unlike Adventures, this game takes the furry team back to its roots, combining Arwing, Landmaster, and for the first time ever (and only time since), on-foot gameplay for solo missions. It also features an expansive multiplayer and unlockables. For some Star Fox fans, this is the best game in the series, and while I don't hold that opinion, I commend it greatly for how it fused the best of Star Fox into one small package worth revisiting.
