The tragedy of a Diva saved by the arts, music and opera - Music Heals - BEVERLY SILLS
Artist and Physiologist Dr. Kathline Colvin, PhD (a person that I admire and love) presents a stunning presentation about how
Beverly Sills (one of the greatest Opera singer/actress of all times) was able to cope with her devastating personal problems using music as her medicine.
Dr. Colvin shares with us scientific evidence and data that shows how music impact the brain of the artists. Although Dr. Colvin is very thorough, I wish she had also included (in this presentation) how Beverly had an emotional breakdown while singing the role of Sour Angelica, because it affected her directly with the problems she was dealing with her son conditions, the aria of Sour Angelica hit Beverly so hard that she talks on her autobiography that she was never able to sing it again. I also would have included how dealing with cancer affected Beverly's singing but she was able to use music and performing as the way of fighting the disease. With Dr. Colvin's presentation we can learn so much about new scientific findings at the same time we can benefit from Dr. Colvin's knowledge and not only learn to admire Beverly Sills even more but also use her life as a positive inspiration.
Thank you Dr. Colvin for reminding us how amazing and talented was Beverly Sills.
Thank you for keeping her legacy alive (we owe Beverly so much , I wish I co do more).
I have never stopped loving, listening to Beverly and never will. Her voice, her life triumphs and achievements are medicine to my life and soul. I will also be greatefull for you Dr. Colvin for your generosity and thank you for all you do for the arts and for Beverly's Legacy.
