iQOO Neo 10R vs iQOO Neo 10: A Close-Knit Sibling Rivalry

The iQOO Neo series has established itself as a strong contender in the performance-focused mid-range segment, and the iQOO Neo 10R and iQOO Neo 10 are the latest iterations, offering compelling specs with subtle but significant differences. While they share a similar design language, the newer iQOO Neo 10 aims to be the more powerful and feature-rich option.

**Design and Display:**
Both the iQOO Neo 10R and Neo 10 share a very similar design aesthetic, featuring a distinctive "squircle" camera module on the rear. A minor visual difference is the placement of the flash: it's inside the camera module on the Neo 10, and outside on the Neo 10R. Both phones have a plastic frame, contributing to a similar in-hand feel. The Neo 10 is slightly heavier (206g) and marginally thicker (8.1mm) than the Neo 10R (196g, 7.98mm). Both come with an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. Color options differ: the Neo 10 comes in Inferno Red and Titanium Chrome, while the Neo 10R is available in MoonKnight Titanium and Raging Blue.

In terms of display, the similarities continue. Both feature a large 6.78-inch 1.5K (1260x2800 pixels) AMOLED screen with a super-smooth 144Hz refresh rate. They also support 10-bit color and HDR10+. However, the iQOO Neo 10 pulls ahead in peak brightness, rated at a remarkable 5,500 nits compared to the Neo 10R's 4,500 nits. The Neo 10 also boasts higher PWM dimming (4,320Hz vs 3,840Hz), which is beneficial for eye comfort in low-light conditions. Interestingly, the Neo 10R has a faster touch sampling rate of 480Hz, slightly better than the Neo 10's 360Hz, which might appeal to hardcore mobile gamers.

**Performance:**
This is where the most significant difference lies. The iQOO Neo 10 is powered by the **Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4** chipset, which is a newer and more powerful processor compared to the **Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3** found in the iQOO Neo 10R. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 in the Neo 10 offers higher peak clock speeds and a faster GPU (Adreno 825 vs Adreno 735), leading to superior raw performance in benchmarks and real-world gaming. The Neo 10 also offers higher RAM and storage configurations, going up to 16GB RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage, while the Neo 10R maxes out at 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. This makes the Neo 10 a more future-proof option, especially for demanding users and competitive gamers.

**Cameras:**
On the camera front, both phones offer a similar experience for the most part. They both feature a 50MP primary camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and an 8MP ultrawide shooter. The Neo 10 uses a Sony LYT600 sensor, while the Neo 10R has the Sony IMX882, which are essentially the same. Both support 4K video recording at up to 60fps with their rear cameras. For selfies, both are equipped with a 32MP front camera. However, the iQOO Neo 10R surprisingly supports 4K video recording on the front camera, unlike the Neo 10 which is limited to 1080p for selfies. The iQOO Neo 10 also has a macro shooter, which is absent on the Neo 10R.

**Battery and Charging:**
The iQOO Neo 10 comes with a larger 7,000mAh silicon carbon battery, compared to the 6,400mAh silicon carbon battery in the Neo 10R. This translates to longer battery life on the Neo 10. More importantly, the Neo 10 supports significantly faster 120W wired charging, capable of charging from 0 to 100% in just 36 minutes. The Neo 10R, while still fast, offers 80W wired charging, taking approximately 55 minutes for a full charge. Both support 7.5W reverse wired charging.

**Software and Updates:**
Both the iQOO Neo 10R and Neo 10 run on Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15 out of the box. iQOO promises a commendable 3 major Android updates and 4 years of security patches for both devices, ensuring good long-term software support.

**Other Features:**
Both phones include an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers, and a large vapor chamber cooling system for sustained performance during gaming. The iQOO Neo 10 also supports Wi-Fi 7, while the Neo 10R is limited to Wi-Fi 6. The Neo 10 includes an IR Blaster and NFC, both of which are present on the Neo 10R as well. The iQOO Neo 10 also boasts AI features like Instant Cut-out, Circle & Search, AI Note assist, AI Translation, Gemini Assist, AI Photo Enhance, and AI Erase.

Ultimately, the choice depends on your budget and how much you prioritize cutting-edge performance and the latest features. If you can stretch your budget, the iQOO Neo 10 offers a more complete and powerful package. If cost is a primary concern, the iQOO Neo 10R still delivers a very strong experience for its price.
