Easy Beginner Guitar Songs "Blinding Lights" | Lesson, Chords & Melody | The Weeknd

Hey everyone! In today's lesson, I'm going to show you how to play "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd. This is a simple four-chord wonder - that means it's the same four chords in the exact same order the entire time! To keep this one interesting, I'm also going to show you some variations we can do with the strumming, as well as the intro melody.

The lesson begins with the chord shapes: Dm, Am, C, G. I show you some tips and tricks for switching between each of them to make this as simple as possible and then we practice them using downstrokes only.

Next we learn the strumming pattern, which is the most common strumming pattern ever! We break it down, count it out, practice it, and then put it together with the chord shapes to play through the chorus.

Next we take a look at some variations:

- For the verse, we can do the exact same thing as the chorus, except I like to take away one of the strokes from the strumming pattern to make it a little more open and add some space.

- The pre chorus is very similar to the verse, except we strum the G chord once and then count out the rest of the measure.

- The bridge is just like the chorus.

All that's left to do is learn the intro melody. We break it down into two parts, each of those is repeated. We practice the notes, we work on the rhythm of the notes (this is quite heavily syncopated, meaning there are a lot of off beat rhythms within the riff).

Finally we put it all together playing through the melody, the verse, pre-chorus and chorus, just like you would in the song.
